A piano hinge carries the load along its entire length, so it's the go-to for anything long, heavy or hard-working: cabinet and closet doors, fold-down seats and tables, chest and toy box lids, and drop-front doors.

Heavier than the hinges you'll find elsewhere.

Each leaf is a full .060" thick. Most piano hinges on the market are only .035"–.040", so this one is roughly 50% beefier, and you can feel it the moment you pick it up.

The satin finish has a soft, brushed look that discourages finger marks and stays looking clean.

Indoors only, please.

201 stainless resists corrosion far better than plain carbon steel, but it isn't as tough as 304 grade. Keep it out of the weather. For outdoor projects, choose our 1-1/2" stainless piano hinge instead.

Matching #6 x 3/4" Phillips head screws come in the box, so you're ready to install.

Installation tips.

• Hold the hinge against the work and center it so the end holes look balanced.
• Mark your cut line (a strip of masking tape makes it easy to see) and cut to length with a hacksaw.
• File or grind away any burr left from the cut.
• Pre-drill only a few holes, using a self-centering bit, and hang the door or lid.
• Check the alignment. The undrilled holes let you make fine adjustments.
• Once it's right, pre-drill and drive the rest of the screws.
