Build your own shelf pin jig.
These hardened 1/4" drill bushings let you make a shelf hole jig that drills straight, accurately placed holes for years. Pair them with a 1/4" bit and a piece of good scrap.
Hardened so the jig doesn't wear out.
A wood jig on its own wallows out after a few cabinets. The hardened bushing guides the bit instead, so hole number five hundred lands where hole number one did. Each bushing is milled to tolerance for a 1/4" bit, and its .664" length keeps your holes perpendicular.
No glue needed.
Linear grooves milled into each bushing grip the wood and hold it in place. One end is slightly tapered, so it starts easily.
Simple to install.
Bore 3/8" holes in your jig stock on a drill press and tap the bushings in. The .391" outside diameter is sized to press into a 3/8" hole. Ten bushings will cover about a 20" jig at 2" spacing.
